The only thing missing in Honda cars in India is diesel engine but the good news is that company starts manufacturing diesel engine for Indian offerings. Recently Honda Motors has showcased an all new small diesel engine at the Tokyo Motor Show. The 1596 cc i-Dtec unit is one of the first of a new generation of engines the company named as 'Earth Dream Technology'.With this motor company claims the technology will offer a good mixture of performance and environmental values.
The 1596 cc i-Dtec engine belts out 118 bhp of max power at 4000 rpm and pumps out 30.5 kgm of torque at 2000 rpm. The Japanese firm also claim that this power-plant is ighter than any other 1.6 liter diesel engine in the market , and the CO2 emission are less than 100gKm. Meanwhile this powertrain will be first applied in European Civic and Honda officials mention that this technology will be used in entire model range over the next three years and will be launched globally.
For India perspective it is quite early to comment on this but it will surely be the best strategy used by company for Indian automotive industry if applied. As if now company plans big for Indian car market. Company plans to launch the revamped and newly designed three of the luxury and sporty cars in Indian auto market namely 2012 Honda Civic, Honda Accord and Honda CR-V.
